I. Overview

Omega has always been a known brand when it comes to kitchenware. Hurom is also another brand that is now trying
to keep up with Omega especially in the juicer industry. Not long ago, Omega launched a series of juicers that made
us of the single auger design. One of them is the Omega J8006 Masticating Juicer.
Hurom has now released their own line of single auger juicers like Hurom HU-200 Slow Juicer. Both juicers are
actually one of the model units that sell very well from their respective manufacturers. There are a lot of
similarities when it comes to function but there are also significant differences that must be noted before
choosing which one to purchase.
II. Structure and Design
Since the Omega J8006 Masticating juicer is a horizontal juicer, it does occupy more space compared to the Hurom
HU-100 Slow Juicer. The Hurom model is only 6 and ¾ inches wide compared to the width of the omega model which is
at approximately 15 inches. The Omega J8006 Masticating juicer looks very sleek in black and chrome which is
perfect for granite countertops. The chrome finish helps in easy surface clean-up and stain removal. The Hurom
HU-100 Slow Juicer on the other hand has an all- white appearance except for the clear chambers. The color white
can also easily match most kitchen themes but staining from various dyes and colors from the juices might be a
minor problem.
III. Product Functions
Both the Hurom HU-100 Slow juicer and the Omega J8006 Masticating Juicer are utilizing just a single auger
mechanism. Single augers in juicers are beneficial when it comes to the frothiness of the juice. Compared to double
augers, the single auger juicers will be able to produce juice that is less bubbly. Both the Omega and the Hurom
models actually take pride of their dual stage juicing.
The dual stage process produces more juice compared to centrifugal juicers in the market and the pulp is also
dryer. When the fruit or vegetable goes through the stages of extraction, the first stage will extract the
superficial liquids and will separate the juice from the pulp. In the second stage, the pulp is then further
crushed and pressed to extract the remaining amount of juice found in there. The dual stage process also produces
healthier juice since there are more vitamins, minerals and enzymes that are being extracted.
IV. Product Features
Both models boast of its slow juicing capacity but the Omega J8006 Juicer specifically tuned the motor to
produce 80 revolutions per minute. Slow juicing will allow longer lasting juice. Aside from all enzymes are
retained, lesser heat is also produced because of the slow speed. Both juicers also make use of GE’s Ultem material
for their augers which are known to be 8 times stronger than other materials used in augers. The slow squeezing
action also allows a more quiet juicing process. The vertical orientation of the Hurom HU-100 juicer gives it a
good advantage.
Omega J8006 Juicer uses 2 different screens for firm and soft pulps while the Hurom HU-100 uses one screen for
both kinds of pulp. The Hurom model has a self-cleaning feature for easy clean up and the Omega J8006 Unit makes
use of a reverse mechanism to prevent clogs and blockages. When it comes to the price, the Omega J8006 is cheaper
than the Hurom HU-100 Juicer.
A lot of customer reviews in marketing sites also indicate more users geared towards the Omega J8006 model. But
when it comes to juicing, both these units are perfect for that function and fresh healthy juice will always be
minutes away.
